Hello good people! While there are no new updates in the search for our beloved Bear #1 and Bear #2, a new adventure began this last week over here at Bear headquarters… This new adventure in no way detracts from our quest to find our beloved Bears, but instead supports and strengthens it by reminding us of how much we love and miss them. It all started when a mysterious package arrived in the mail…
The Mysterious Package….
It was a day much like any other. The sun was shining , the chirps of happy little birds came in through my window; spring had arrived early. I was working at the piano, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, when I was startled into alertness by the sound of the buzzer at my front door.. None too happy at being snatched from my reverie, I snapped the door open somewhat faster than I normally would. An unfazed postman stood, package in hand, awaiting my signature. I brought the package inside and set it on the counter. The first thing I noticed was the postmark from Japan.. A slow wave of confusion began in my mind. I wasn’t expecting any package. Who in Japan would be sending me a package? The package was rectangular in shape ,very lightweight, and had some Hello-Kitty stamps on it. Having judged that there was nothing to fear from the mysterious package, my curiosity got the better of me. I slowly and carefully cut the tape at the seam of the box with my pocket knife…
I was stunned. Having not seen our Bears for nearly two months, the sight of this little bear made me feel a strong rush of emotion, a mixture of loss, nostalgia and joy. Inside there was a note explaining that this Bear was the little sister of our Bears, and that she would like to stay with us for a time, while our Bears are away. My heart welled with happiness. I taped the package shut and brought it to my girlfriend, so that she too could experience this mysterious and wonderful package..
Meet Bear #3!
We are still getting to know Bear #3. So far she hasn’t said much.In fact she hasn’t spoken at all.. For the first few days, she stayed out of sight- until it was dinner time.. Then, she came out and and showed her enthusiasm for beans and pasta! Maybe the food on the plane wasn’t so hot ;)… She looks a lot like Bear #2, but is about an inch shorter. Lately she has started to meow like a cat (only in a gurgling sort of Bear voice). This is in line with our experience of Bears, as #1 likes to bark like a dog (although I think he does it to annoy #2). We are very excited to get to know this wonderful little Bear, and welcome her presence in our home. She adds joy, freshness and youthful Bear energy into our otherwise Bearless lives.
To the person who sent her, we cannot thank you enough. Your thoughtful gesture has touched our lives and filled our hearts. It reminds me of the film “Amelie”- Bear #3 is just what we needed, at just the right time.. Our good feelings radiate from us and travel to you every time we laugh and experience joy with this great little Bear. Thank you :).
